It's Lonely at the Top

It’s lonely at the top.

The truth of the matter is that the higher you climb in a company, the fewer peers you have. Your responsibilities and visibility increase dramatically yet those you can trust to give you an honest, direct, and helpful answer decreases even more dramatically. The C-Suite has its perks…and its pitfalls.

You’re looked up to, but who do you look to? Who has your back? Who can you share your frustrations and fears, ideas and insights with who can’t use that information for their own purposes? And God forbid you have personal issues you’re grappling with (pssst…who doesn’t?). Therapy doesn’t feel like the answer but you know those problems aren’t going to solve themselves. Maybe work is getting in the way of life and life is getting in the way of work?

The organization is counting on you, but who can YOU count on?

If you’re a powerful leader you need a trusted advisor. Someone who advises you when you’re expected to have all the answers. Someone who keeps you accountable to the goals you’ve set and collaborates on the path to get you where you want to go.

Someone who shows you how to be the leader you were born to be. If you’re a stats person you should know that the ROI on executive coaching is 5-8 times the initial investment.

Who is advising you? Who’s shifting your thoughts and rattling your cage so you can be more productive, peaceful, powerful, and successful? Can live a life of intention and calm. Kick ass and take names professionally, and live satisfying, meaningful lives.

Drive every initiative, every decision, with confidence and clarity.

Leaders with killer resumes have lost everything when they couldn’t keep it all together. We’ve all watched it happen: Stood idly by as Human Resources has walked them off the premises. Or simply seen them one day… then never again.

They didn’t have proper counsel so they walked blindly onto a landmine.

One company president I worked with summed it up poignantly: “There’s no other way to say it: You saved my life.”

What have YOU got to lose? More importantly…What have you got to win?
